Vintage Soundtracks for Your Halloween Party

Any proper Halloween party needs some background music. The easiest way to do that is to set up your phone or desktop computer in an unassuming place and let those tunes rip. A soundtrack also adds to your front yard decor any time, but most crucially when trick-or-treaters came by for candy. The internet offers a wide variety of Halloween tunes already loaded into playlists, so that you don't have to start a new song every four minutes or so. And you've got a lot of music to select from, going back more than a hundred years!

The YouTube channel History Tea Time with Lindsay Holiday has quite a few playlists of vintage Halloween tunes, like 13 Halloween Songs from the 1910s, '20s, and '30s; 13 More Halloween Songs from the 1910s, '20s, and '30s; 13 Halloween Songs from the 1920s and '30s; and 13 Halloween Jazz Songs from the 1940s and '50s. Or you can load her entire collection of vintage Halloween music videos, which should be good for several hours.

Jake Westbrook has a Halloween playlist that's all familiar oldies, but the eras are mixed.

But if what you're looking for is a wide-ranging mix of new and old Halloween tunes with such eclectic choices that you can play hours of music without repeating a song, check out Jack Fear's archive of Halloween mixtapes, and a new one for 2023. You'll only have to start a new one every hour or so.
